About Linear Park

The City of Youngsville and Sugar Mill Pond Investors LLC have entered into a cooperative endeavor agreement on the construction of two regional retention lakes and a linear park totaling 33 acres.

The project consists of two stormwater lakes between Iberia Street and Savoy Road along Bayou Parc Perdu, the main drainage channel for approximately 60% of Youngsville. The northern lake consists of 17.95 acres and will be used exclusively to provide drainage relief for Bayou Parc Perdu. The southern 10.61 acre lake will provide retention for the remaining build out of Sugar Mill Pond development.

To complement the retention lakes, a linear park will be constructed along the waterfront stretching one half mile from Iberia Street to Savoy Road. This passive greenspace park will be for all residents of Youngsville to enjoy with a sidewalk/trail, benches, etc. and will offer pedestrian connectivity to the Youngsville Sports Complex from Iberia Street.

In addition, with approximately 435,000 cu yards of dirt excavated from these lakes we’re able to strategically plan the layout of the 46.5 acre Youngsville Sports Complex expansion with terrain that will be one of a kind in this region.

“The City Council and I are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Robert and Jordan Daigle. Their developments are synonymous with quality and this public/private partnership will be no exception. This partnership enables us to accomplish our goal of lowering our base flood elevation in addition to creating a beautiful recreational area. This transformational project will be a model for drainage improvement, recreation, and public/private partnerships. Over the past 18 months the city has acquired over 100 acres of property to facilitate drainage improvements. We remain steadfast in our commitment to improve drainage and enhance quality of life through recreation wherever possible on these strategic parcels throughout Youngsville.“

–Ken Ritter, Mayor

“Jordan and I are thrilled to have entered into this public/private partnership with the City of Youngsville on a project that not only addresses drainage issues within the Town but also will elevate the quality of life of our Sugar Mill Pond residents and the entire populace of Youngsville. From walking and biking trails to children’s playgrounds to boating on a beautiful 28 acre lake, this multi-purpose project will have recreational as well as passive amenities that are without equal in the Parish of Lafayette. It has truly been a privilege to work with Mayor Ritter whose vision for his City should make every resident proud to call Youngsville home.”
