Another public/private partnership to improve drainage will be completed this year thanks to the residents of Fieldcrest Subdivision.
This neighborhood’s HOA owns a 4.5 acre recreational pond that is currently not part of the
neighborhood’s drainage or detention system. An overwhelming majority of their residents voted recently to allow the city to retrofit this pond to retain their storm water rather than directly out falling to the neighboring channel. As a result, this project will reduce the amount of discharge during high intensity rain events without negatively impacting Fieldcrest homeowners. It’s a huge win for those on the Anslem lateral and Anslem coulee! Bid documents are being prepared with an estimated construction timeline of commencing in the spring and completion in five months.
Through public/private partnerships and federal grants, numerous drainage improvement solutions are under various stages of development and design across Youngsville. This is now the now the third pond benefiting the Anslem coulee through a private/public partnership. In addition, Youngsville has previously announced the acceptance of $10 Million in federal grants for multiple regional storm water ponds on the Lasalle and Bayou Parc Perdu Coulees totaling 60-80 acres. Construction will commence on the Lasalle pond on S. Larriviere this year and property owner negotiations are currently being finalized for Bayou Parc Perdu.
Thank you to McBade Engineers & Consultants LLC for designing the Fieldcrest solution, our City Council for supporting drainage as a key priority, and obviously Fieldcrest residents again for trusting our administration to perform this project and deliver what’s promised.
